We also provide speakers for conferences, seminars, workshops and public meetings on themes related to personal development. In addition, concerts and workshops are run in prisons for staff and prisoners, creating a shared experience of peace, harmony and appreciation through the medium of the arts. Extensive educational programmes are also offered to prison inmates so enabling them to re-evaluate their approach to life and make meaningful and positive changes. Since 1984, the BKWSU has worked with prisoners in more than twenty-five prisons and with staff from more than sixty establishments in the UK. The Brahma Kumaris work in prisons on every continent. Such has been the international acceptance of the work of the University that, in some prisons, permanent meditation facilities have been established and in Mauritius, Positive Thinking has been incorporated into the training programme at the Prison Officers Training School. |
